HONORING Monique Newkirk upon the occasion of
being inducted into the Strong Nonprofits for Better
New York's Women in Human Services Hall of Fame on
March 13, 2018

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Monique Newkirk has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Monique
Newkirk upon the occasion of being inducted into the Strong Nonprofits
for Better New York's Women in Human Services Hall of Fame on Tuesday,
March 13, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Monique Newkirk is a Senior Program Director with Good
Shepherd Services, overseeing the Boys and Girls High School YABC and
Rebound Assist programs; and

WHEREAS, This esteemed woman began her illustrious tenure with Good
Shepherd Services in 2005 as an Administrative Assistant; her bold
leadership skills coupled with her staunch commitment to local youth has
enabled her to navigate upward in her career; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering dedication to youth
development, Monique Newkirk has truly impacted the lives of countless
young people in New York City, contributing to the graduation of more
than 1,000 students who would have otherwise given up on completing
their education; and

WHEREAS, Monique Newkirk's innovative approach and optimistic
mindset provide a warm and vibrant safe haven within a school setting,
which amplifies attendance, success, hope, and overall greater good; and

WHEREAS, The success of Good Shepherd Services is in direct
correlation to the efforts of Senior Program Director Monique Newkirk,
whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization
and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Monique Newkirk has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Monique Newkirk has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Monique Newkirk, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Monique Newkirk upon the occasion of being inducted into the
Strong Nonprofits for Better New York's Women in Human Services Hall of
Fame on March 13, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Monique Newkirk.
