HONORING Lillie Marshall upon the occasion of
being inducted into the Strong Nonprofits for Better
New York's Women in Human Services Hall of Fame on
March 13, 2018
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Lillie Marshall has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Lillie
Marshall upon the occasion of being inducted into the Strong Nonprofits
for Better New York's Women in Human Services Hall of Fame on Tuesday,
March 13, 2018; and
WHEREAS, A resident of Red Hook Houses since January of 1966, Lillie
Marshall has tirelessly served her community for more than five decades,
encouraging participation in self-help initiatives to create positive
living for all families; and
WHEREAS, Lillie Marshall has served as President of Red Hook West
Residents Association since 2002; in this capacity, she has been
instrumental in the upgrade and repair of this New York City Housing
Authority complex, most notably after Superstorm Sandy; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering dedication to her
community, Lillie Marshall has also served as the Chair for the Brooklyn
South District of Presidents since 2012; and
WHEREAS, The success of Red Hook West Residents Association is in
direct correlation to the efforts of President Lillie Marshall, whose
involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive
commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of
excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the
community it serves; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Lillie Marshall has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Lillie Marshall has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Lillie Marshall, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Lillie Marshall upon the occasion of being inducted into the
Strong Nonprofits for Better New York's Women in Human Services Hall of
Fame on March 13, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Lillie Marshall.
