HONORING Ivy Gamble Cobb upon the occasion of
being inducted into the Strong Nonprofits for Better
New York's Women in Human Services Hall of Fame on
March 13, 2018

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Ivy Gamble Cobb has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ivy Gamble
Cobb upon the occasion of being inducted into the Strong Nonprofits for
Better New York's Women in Human Services Hall of Fame on Tuesday, March
13, 2018; and

WHEREAS, Ivy Gamble Cobb, LMSW, is the Executive Director of The
Family Center, an organization she and a team of like-minded women
founded in 1994; she has since dedicated her life and career to helping
disadvantaged New Yorkers; and

WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, The Family Center
strengthens families affected by illness, crisis, or loss, creating a
more secure present and future for their children; and

WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Ivy Gamble Cobb, The Family
Center serves more than 1,500 children and their families each year; and

WHEREAS, Ivy Gamble Cobb received her Bachelor's degree from New
York University before earning a Master's degree in Social Work from
Hunter College School of Social Work; additionally, she has completed
coursework towards a PhD in Social Welfare; and

WHEREAS, The success of The Family Center is in direct correlation
to the efforts of Executive Director Ivy Gamble Cobb, whose involvement
is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Ivy Gamble Cobb has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Ivy Gamble Cobb has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent

of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Ivy Gamble Cobb, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ivy Gamble Cobb upon the occasion of being inducted into the
Strong Nonprofits for Better New York's Women in Human Services Hall of
Fame on March 13, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ivy Gamble Cobb.
