COMMENDING Donna Akerley upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the 2016
Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Donna Akerley has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Donna
Akerley upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women and Women
in Business; and

WHEREAS, For over 27 years, Donna Akerley has served as the Town
Clerk for the Town of Fallsburg; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her role of Town Clerk, Donna Akerley is the
Land Tax Collector, Registrar of Vital Statistics, Records Management
Officer, FOIL Officer, Licensing Officer, Marriage Officer and Website
Manager as well as Notary Public; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to her community, Donna Akerley is a member of the
Woodridge United Methodist Church, Woodridge Fire Department, Town of
Fallsburg Lions Club, Town of Fallsburg Democratic Party Secretary and
the coordinator for various Town of Fallsburg-related events such as
Francis Currey Day and Winter Carnivals; and

WHEREAS, This dynamic woman was also the cooking instructor for the
Fallsburg Central School District Community Enrichment Program, past
Vice President of the Woodridge Youth Program and a volunteer for Town
of Fallsburg Police Department Golf Tournaments and Fundraisers; and

WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her husband of 27 years, Eric
Akerley and her two children, Amie and Nolan, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of her life and rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Donna Akerley has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Donna Akerley upon the occasion of her designation for special

recognition by the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional
Women and Women in Business; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Donna Akerley.
