COMMEMORATING the 40th Anniversary of The Arc of
Schuyler in Watkins Glen, New York
WHEREAS, It is the custom of the Legislative Body to recognize those
established organizations within our communities that, year after year,
diligently work to improve the quality of life for its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of The Arc of Schuyler in Watkins Glen,
New York; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Schuyler is a private, not-for-profit
organization providing support to people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities, including autism, and their families; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Schuyler is a chapter of The Arc New York., the
largest not-for-profit organization working with and for people with
intellectual and developmental disabilities in New York State, and is a
member of The Arc of the United States; and
WHEREAS, On May 7, 1978, a courageous group of family members and
friends of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
founded The Arc of Schuyler; from its modest beginning, it has become
the most comprehensive provider of support to hundreds of people with
developmental disabilities and their families in Schuyler County; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Schuyler is an advocacy agency which truly
believes that all people have the fundamental moral, civic, and
constitutional rights to live, learn, and work in safe and respectful
communities of their choosing without prejudice; and
WHEREAS, A volunteer Board of Directors, including relatives of
persons with a developmental disability and dedicated community leaders,
continue to provide their experience and insight to ensure the rights of
people with developmental disabilities; and
WHEREAS, The Arc of Schuyler urges all citizens to support its
diligent efforts of empowering people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities to live full and productive lives of
inclusion in its communities; and
WHEREAS, The success of The Arc of Schuyler is in direct correlation
to the efforts of its Executive Director, Jeannette Frank, and her
staff, whose involvement is, and always has been, characterized by an
impressive commitment, an unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising
standard of excellence in all endeavors on behalf of the institution and
the community it serves; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 40th Anniversary of The Arc of Schuyler in Watkins Glen,
New York; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jeannette Frank, Executive Director, The Arc of Schuyler.
