COMMENDING Kathleen Donovan upon the occasion of
her retirement after 34 years of distinguished
service to the Albany County Board of Elections

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished citizens of this great Empire State who have
devoted themselves to faithfully serving the best interests of their
community and the needs of its residents; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Kathleen Donovan upon the occasion of her retirement after 34
years of distinguished service to the Albany County Board of Elections;
and

WHEREAS, Kathleen Donovan began her distinguished career with the
Albany County Board of Elections as a Clerk; at this time, registrations
were entered onto metal plates with an Addressograph machine; as the
office and technology progressed, she was instrumental in the
installation of the current registration system; and

WHEREAS, Through the years, Kathleen Donovan rose through the ranks
holding the titles of Election Specialist, Senior Election Specialist,
Computer Information Specialist, IT Training Specialist, and finally,
the esteemed title of Deputy Commissioner, the position from which she
will officially retire; and

WHEREAS, In addition to her work with the Board, Kathleen Donovan
served as the co-Chair of both the 2015 and 2016 Albany County Picnic,
and has been a member of the New York State Election Commissioners
Association since 2007; she has also been a participant of the Cohoes
Committee for the last four years; and

WHEREAS, A vital part of her community, Kathleen Donovan is a member
of the Cohoes Columbiettes and Colonie Elks Lodge 2192, where she serves
as Chaplain; recently, she was elected to the title of 2018-2019
Lecturing Knight; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her career, Kathleen Donovan served the Albany
County Board of Elections with intelligence and caring dedication,
continuously striving to effectively fulfill the duties of her position;
and

WHEREAS, Sincerely loved and greatly respected by all those with
whom she worked, Kathleen Donovan will be remembered for her honesty,
integrity, keen sense of duty and ability to show a unique grasp of
human problems in her official acts; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of the great State of New York; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kathleen Donovan upon the occasion of her retirement after 34
years of distinguished service to the Albany County Board of Elections,
and to wish her continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kathleen Donovan.
