COMMENDING Cheryl Bowers upon the occasion of her
designation as a 2018 SUNY New Paltz School of
Business Hall of Fame inductee as Business Person of
the Year

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals who have distinguished themselves
through their exemplary careers, accomplishments, and purposeful lives
of service to their community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Cheryl Bowers upon the occasion of her designation as a 2018
SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Business
Person of the Year, to be celebrated at an Induction Ceremony on
Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at the Grandview in Poughkeepsie, New York;
and

WHEREAS, A woman of singular distinction, Cheryl Bowers has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in her unwavering service to both her community
and profession and consequently has been selected for this most
prestigious honor; and

WHEREAS, On January 1, 2018, Cheryl Bowers became the first woman
President and CEO of Rondout Savings Bank, which has served individuals
and businesses in the Hudson Valley for 150 years; and

WHEREAS, Devoted to her profession, Cheryl Bowers is a member of the
New York Bankers Association, where she serves on both the Education and
Women in Banking Conference Committees; she is also a regular speaker at
the Annual Women's Leadership Conference; and

WHEREAS, Cheryl Bowers is an important and vital part of her
community; she is a participant of numerous Boards of various regional
organizations including the Ulster Community College Foundation, the
Kingston Boys and Girls Club, the Lions Club of Kingston, and Vassar
Brothers Medical Center; she also held the position of Chair of the
Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce; and

WHEREAS, For her steadfast and unremitting commitment to her fellow
man and woman, Cheryl Bowers was named Volunteer of the Decade by
Gateway Community Industries and was recognized by the YWCA Tribute To
Women; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Cheryl Bowers has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Cheryl Bowers upon the occasion of her designation as a 2018
SUNY New Paltz School of Business Hall of Fame inductee as Business
Person of the Year; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cheryl Bowers.
