Senate Resolution No. 4119

HONORING William Ost upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by the American
Legion Elmont Post No. 1033 on March 20, 2018
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, William Ost has given not only of his time and energies but
also of his competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently has
been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor William Ost
upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition by the
American Legion Elmont Post No. 1033, to be celebrated at its 38th
Annual Law & Order Night on Tuesday, March 20, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Law & Order Program honors the unsung heroes of our
lives; the paid and unpaid law officers, firefighters, EMTs and
paramedics, who give unselfishly of themselves everyday; William "Bill"
Ost is one such individual; and
WHEREAS, Subsequently, this year's celebration has been renamed the
American Legion Post No. 1033 Bill Ost Law & Order Night in recognition
of this extraordinary man and his more than 30 years of service to the
community; and
WHEREAS, William Ost has been called upon to contribute his time and
talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always given
of himself unstintingly; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the American
Legion Elmont Post No. 1033, William Ost served as Chairman of its Law &
Order Night for three decades; in addition, he is former Post and
District Commander, and has served as Master of Ceremonies for its
Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, William Ost has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, The success of the American Legion Elmont Post No. 1033 is
in direct correlation to the efforts of William Ost, whose involvement
is, and always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an
unbridled enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in
all endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves;
and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which William Ost has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
William Ost, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor William Ost upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the American Legion Elmont Post No. 1033 on March 20,
2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to William Ost.
