CONGRATULATING Emmalee White upon the occasion of
receiving the Girl Scout Silver Award, Cadette
Scouting's highest award, and Girl Scouting's second
highest achievement

WHEREAS, Emmalee White was honored with the Girl Scout Silver Award,
Cadette Scouting's highest award, and Girl Scouting's second highest
achievement; and

WHEREAS, Emmalee White is a member of the Girl Scouts of America
Troop 50095, in Alexandria Bay, New York; and

WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has cultivated in our Nation's young people
the goals of building solid values of sisterhood and the importance of
working with others, stimulating both mind and body, instilling pride,
and encouraging community service and success; and

WHEREAS, Girl Scouting has expanded the horizons of the countless
hundreds of thousands who have participated in Scouting programs which
have made Scouting an American and international institution; and

WHEREAS, Emmalee White completed a Silver Award community service
project which she planned, developed and executed; her project, entitled
"Birthday in a Bag", benefitted the Alexandria Central School Backpack
Club and the Alexandria Bay Food Pantry; and

WHEREAS, For her project, Emmalee White and her fellow Scouts wanted
to ensure that all children be given the chance to have a memorable
birthday, particularly when their families may be struggling and without
the means to purchase such items as birthday candles, cakes, and cards;
and

WHEREAS, She and her fellow Scouts collected donations and assembled
birthday bags for children who might not otherwise have a chance to
celebrate; and

WHEREAS, The Silver Award is earned over a two-year period; it is
tangible evidence of Emmalee White's high character and commitment, and
is a harbinger of her future service to her community, New York State
and our Nation; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Emmalee White, recognizing her achievement in earning the
Girl Scout Silver Award, and to wish her continued success in all her
future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Emmalee White.
