COMMENDING Dan Donatelli upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition by Residents for
a More Beautiful Port Washington on March 16, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Dan Donatelli upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington to be
celebrated at its 50th Anniversary Gala on Friday, March 16, 2018, at
Leonard's Palozzo in Great Neck, New York; and

WHEREAS, For the last five decades, Residents for a More Beautiful
Port Washington has strived to improve the quality of life in its
community, educate its residents about the environment and its impact on
health, and develop policy and planning initiatives; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Port Washington, New York, since 1991, Dan
Donatelli is an important and active member of his community, serving as
an attorney in a private practice; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his work, Dan Donatelli held the title of
co-President of Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington for
almost 20 years; in this capacity, he was instrumental in helping this
vital organization accomplish numerous goals such as the Cinema On the
Bay initiative, the Model Blocks program, and the Nassau County
Environmental Bond Acts of 2006 and 2009; and

WHEREAS, Dan Donatelli resigned from this position after he was
appointed to serve on the Town of Port Washington's Board of Zoning
Appeals in 2016; and

WHEREAS, During the summer months, Dan Donatelli and his wife move
to their summer home on the Long Island Sound where they can often be
found on the water sailing their boat, Moondance to favorite vacation
spots on Martha's Vineyard and Block Island; and

WHEREAS, A vintage car enthusiast, Dan Donatelli also enjoys driving
his 1979 Fiat Spider on the streets of Port Washington; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Lisa, and their two
sons, Alex and Marco, all of whom have shown him love and support and
rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the

recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Dan Donatelli upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by Residents for a More Beautiful Port Washington on March
16, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dan Donatelli.
