COMMENDING Donna Flynn-Brown upon the occasion of
her designation for special recognition by the 2016
Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Donna Flynn-Brown has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Donna
Flynn-Brown upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition
by the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women and
Women in Business
WHEREAS, A graduate of Liberty High School, Donna Flynn-Brown earned
her bachelor's degree while attending The University at Albany, The
State University of New York at Oneonta and The State University of New
York at New Paltz; she furthered her education by obtaining School
District Administrator Certification as well as Special Education and
Elementary Education Certifications; and
WHEREAS, For many years, Donna Flynn-Brown was a teacher before
serving as Special Education Administrator; she later served as
Assistant Superintendent at Arlington Central School District,
LaGrangeville, New York; and
WHEREAS, In 2016, Donna Flynn-Brown became the Director of
Special/Alternative Education at Sullivan County BOCES in Liberty, New
York; in this capacity, she designs, develops and enhances high quality
programs and services for students with disabilities and struggling
learners while remaining cognizant of the fiscal constraints of her
schools; she strives to provide the best educational experiences for all
students in the most cost-effective ways possible; and
WHEREAS, Many of Donna Flynn-Brown's students will graduate with
local or Regents diplomas, while others will exit with job skills which
will enable them to immediately enter the work force; to meet these
diverse needs, she must purposefully develop programs with the dedicated
staff at BOCES as well as input from all Sullivan County schools; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Donna Flynn-Brown has
displayed throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Donna Flynn-Brown upon the occasion of her designation for
special recognition by the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring
Professional Women and Women in Business; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Donna Flynn-Brown.
