COMMENDING the Chinese American Association of
North Hempstead upon the occasion of hosting its
21st Annual Gala

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those enduring organizations which faithfully devote their
resources and purposeful energies to improving the quality and dignity
of life in the communities they serve, and to preserving their cultural
heritage; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Chinese American Association of North Hempstead upon the
occasion of hosting its 21st Annual Gala on Saturday, March 17, 2018, at
Leonard's Palazzo in Great Neck, New York; and

WHEREAS, In 1997, the Chinese American Association of North
Hempstead (CAANH) was formed by a group of Chinese American Families;
since its inception, CAANH's membership has grown to more than 200
families in the North Hempstead, Long Island area; and

WHEREAS, CAANH is a non-profit and non-sectarian organization
committed to promoting intercultural exchanges within its communities;
this vital association strives to cultivate goodwill and introduce the
Chinese culture and traditions to the community, promote community
participation and awareness among its members, encourage quality
education and sponsor scholarship programs for its children, and
represent the interests and concerns of Chinese residents in the
community; and

WHEREAS, To achieve these objectives, CAANH organizes and sponsors
many social, cultural, and educational activities which are open to its
members and residents in the nearby communities; the association is also
very active in volunteering and supporting school events held in the
various school districts of its members; through a lot of hard work,
dedication and the support of its members, the association has made
significant strides in promoting the image and interests of Chinese
Americans; and

WHEREAS, The unique beauty of Asian culture and the contribution of
its people to literature, the arts and sciences, and to the economy, are
well-known and well-appreciated around the world; the contributions of
Asian-Americans are especially bountiful throughout the Empire State and
are distinguished by their excellence; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Chinese American Association of North Hempstead upon the
occasion of hosting its 21st Annual Gala on March 17, 2018; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Chinese American Association of North Hempstead.
