HONORING Thomas Weinberg upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 SUNY
Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and
Creative Activities

WHEREAS, It is the practice of this Legislative Body to take note of
and publicly acknowledge individuals of remarkable integrity and
character whose endeavors have enhanced the quality of life in the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Thomas Weinberg upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2017 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative
Activities; and

WHEREAS, Faculty and staff who receive the Chancellor's Award for
Excellence have served their students, fellow faculty and staff,
campuses, and communities with the utmost distinction, and have
demonstrated extraordinary dedication and service to SUNY Buffalo;
Thomas Weinberg is one such individual; and

WHEREAS, Thomas Weinberg, a Professor of Sociology, has been called
upon to contribute his time and talents to countless civic and
charitable endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of his community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Thomas Weinberg has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Thomas Weinberg has displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Thomas Weinberg, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Thomas Weinberg upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the 2017 SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Scholarship and
Creative Activities; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Thomas Weinberg.
