COMMENDING Kathy Scullion upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by the 2016
Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women
and Women in Business
WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and
WHEREAS, Kathy Scullion has given not only of her time and energies
but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and consequently
has been designated for special honor; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Kathy
Scullion upon the occasion of her designation for special recognition by
the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional Women and Women
in Business; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of JYCS High School, Kathy Scullion earned her
bachelor's degree in Biology from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York;
she furthered her education by obtaining her master's degree in
Environmental Studies from Bard College in Annandale-On-Hudson, New
York; and
WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Kathy Scullion has served as an
Instructional Assistant in the Division of Science, Technology, and
Mathematics at SUNY Sullivan; in this capacity, she helps prepare many
labs, and purchases the materials needed for those labs; and
WHEREAS, In addition to her role of Assistant, Kathy Scullion holds
the position of Campus Coordinator for the Bridges to the Baccalaureate
Program, which gives science students the opportunity to participate in
a six-week summer research program at Purchase College; and
WHEREAS, Devoted to the environment and our natural resources, Kathy
Scullion is a member of the Sustainability Committee, coordinates the
Community Garden, and advises the Garden Club; and
WHEREAS, Kathy Scullion is also the co-President of the Sullivan
County Audubon Society and a vital member of the Bashakill Area
Association, Catskill Mountainkeeper, and the Northeast Organic Farming
Association of New York; and
WHEREAS, With her throughout has been her husband of 17 years, Ed,
who feels privileged to be a part of her life and rejoices in her
achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Kathy Scullion has displayed
throughout her life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kathy Scullion upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by the 2016 Sullivan County Democrat honoring Professional
Women and Women in Business; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Kathy Scullion.
