HONORING Xavier A. Palacios upon the occasion of
his designation for special recognition by the Tri
Community and Youth Agency on March 22, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Xavier A. Palacios upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency, to be celebrated at
its Hall of Honor event on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the Woodbury
Country Club, Woodbury, New York; and
WHEREAS, Born in New York City, Xavier A. Palacios grew up in
Huntington Station where he attended public school; he went on to attend
Columbia University and Boston University School of Law; and
WHEREAS, Xavier A. Palacios has been practicing law in Long Island
since 1996; he is currently the owner and managing partner of Palacios
Law Group with offices in Mineola, Bay Shore and Huntington Station; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Xavier A. Palacios, the firm
specializes in federal litigation, criminal, personal injury, family law
and immigration matters; and
WHEREAS, In 2008, Xavier A. Palacios purchased and renovated a
distressed property on New York Avenue in Huntington Station where he
conducts a satellite office for his law practice; and
WHEREAS, Two years later, Xavier A. Palacios co-founded Friends of
Huntington Station Latin Quarter, an organization established to
revitalize the community through business development, beautification,
youth programs, mentorship, fundraising, scholarships, and holiday toy
drives benefitting the underserved; and
WHEREAS, Xavier A. Palacios has been the proud recipient of numerous
awards and accolades in recognition of his tireless work in the
community, legal advocacy and his effort to strengthen opportunities for
young people; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast commitment to his profession, Xavier A.
Palacios is member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association,
Suffolk and Nassau County Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers
Association, Long Island Hispanic Bar Association and the National
Immigration Project; and
WHEREAS, Xavier A. Palacios is a founding member and current vice
president of Huntington Matters, Inc., as well as an elected trustee of
the Huntington Public School Board; in addition, he was appointed to the
Huntington Hispanic Task Force, a program which serves as a liaison
between town government and the community; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Xavier A. Palacios has
displayed throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Xavier A. Palacios, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Xavier A. Palacios upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Tri Community and Youth Agency on March 22,
2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Xavier A. Palacios.
