HONORING Nilda Hofmann upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Healthfirst,
on March 29, 2018, in conjunction with the
observance of Women's History Month

WHEREAS, The State of New York is home to countless women who have
contributed to the advancement of our culture through both their
traditional and non-traditional roles in society; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Nilda Hofmann upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Healthfirst, to be observed at its Community Award
Celebration at Maestro's Caterers, Bronx, New York, on Thursday, March
29, 2018, in conjunction with the observance of Women's History Month;
this year's award celebration theme is "Groundbreakers and Herstory
Makers of Today"; and

WHEREAS, Nilda Hofmann is being recognized for demonstrating an
unwavering commitment to being a voice in the community and is focused
on issues that are important to its residents; this exceptional woman
reflects the fabric of her city and works daily to improve conditions
for others; and

WHEREAS, Chief of Community Affairs Nilda Hofmann began her career
with the New York City Police Department as a Police Administrative
Aide, assigned to Detective Borough Bronx in October of 1987; and

WHEREAS, In October of 1990, she was sworn in as a Police Officer
and patrolled in the 43rd Precinct; she also served in the 23rd, 25th,
42nd, 44th and 52nd Precincts, Patrol Borough Bronx, and the Bronx Task
Force; and

WHEREAS, Rising through the ranks, Nilda Hofmann was promoted to
Sergeant in April of 1998; Lieutenant in December of 2003; Captain in
April of 2008; Deputy Inspector in September of 2011; Inspector in
October of 2013; Deputy Chief in April of 2016, and, on January 18,
2018, she was promoted to Chief of Community Affairs; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Nilda Hofmann's bureau plays a critical
role in the department's refocused approach to achieving and sustaining
gains against crime by strengthening community relationships and trust;
she has also served as Commanding Officer of the 25th and 52nd
Precincts, and the Executive Officer of the 42nd Precinct and Risk
Management Bureau; and

WHEREAS, Chief of Community Affairs Nilda Hofmann earned a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College, and is a
2013 graduate of the Police Management Institute at Columbia University;
and

WHEREAS, With her throughout have been her husband and her three
children, all of whom feel privileged to be a part of her life and
rejoice in her achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of his Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Nilda Hofmann upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Healthfirst, on March 29, 2018, in conjunction with the
observance of Women's History Month; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Nilda Hofmann.
