HONORING Cindy Babcock upon the occasion of her
induction into the Catskill Mountain Quilters Hall
of Fame

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Cindy Babcock upon the occasion of her induction into the Catskill
Mountain Quilters Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Founded in 1982, the Catskill Mountain Quilters Hall of
Fame is dedicated to preserving the history of quilting in the Catskill
Mountains, as well as promoting its evolving and complex artistry; and

WHEREAS, A resident of Cochecton, Cindy Babcock is being recognized
for her creative talent and dedication to the art of quilting; and

WHEREAS, Cindy Babcock is an active member of the Calico Geese
Quilting Guild, a Cornell Cooperative Extension Home Economics unit with
the goal to initiate a community-based, county-wide membership of
quilters; and

WHEREAS, As a member of the Guild, Cindy Babcock fosters, preserves,
and promotes the art of quilt making; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to the
community, Cindy Babcock and the Calico Geese Quilting Guild of Sullivan
County give tirelessly of their time and energies to countless local
charitable causes, donating lap quilts to area nursing homes as well as
baby quilts to mothers and babies in need; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Cindy Babcock has stood constant in
dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Cindy Babcock has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cindy Babcock upon the occasion of her induction into the Catskill
Mountain Quilters Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Cindy Babcock.
