HONORING Tyler DeGroff upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the 2017 Community
Leader of the Year Award by the Schoharie County
Chamber of Commerce on March 23, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals that are devoted to the welfare of the community and its
citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Tyler DeGroff upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
2017 Community Leader of the Year Award by the Schoharie County Chamber
of Commerce, to be celebrated at its Annual Meeting and Awards Ceremony
on Friday, March 23, 2018, in Bouck Hall, at SUNY Cobleskill College,
Cobleskill, New York; and

WHEREAS, Schoharie County Chamber of Commerce's annual business
awards recognize individuals who have been successful in providing
quality products and services to clients and customers, and who have
consistently treated their business associates in a fair and respectable
manner; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in Schoharie County, Tyler DeGroff has
always wanted to be a chef; after studying and learning from one of the
best, Chef Ric Orlando from New World Bistro Bar in Albany, New York,
for 10 years, he returned to his hometown and opened Hen & Hound, in
Middleburgh, New York, in May of 2017; and

WHEREAS, Executive Chef Tyler DeGroff prides himself on offering his
customers delicious and unique dishes using a balance of seasonable and
local components while invoking vivid and delicious flavors from all
over the world; and

WHEREAS, Mindful of the area's rich and plentiful agricultural lands
and history, Chef DeGroff offers his food aficionados beef and pork from
Highland Hollow Farms, produce from Schoharie Valley Farms and Barber's
Farm, and dairy products from Cowbella Creamery; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to the community in which he lives and works,
Tyler DeGroff has served as executive chef of the Bounty of the County
for the last three years; proceeds of this gala event were donated to
Schoharie Area Long Term disaster recovery coalition (SALT), an
organization determined to rebuild and rehabilitate the Schoharie Creek
basin after Hurricane Irene; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, and their two young
sons, all of whom have shown him love and support and rejoice in his
many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their profession and community,
and have shown a long and sustained commitment to excellence, certainly
have earned the recognition and applause of all citizens of this great
Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Tyler DeGroff upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the 2017 Community Leader of the Year Award by the Schoharie County
Chamber of Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Tyler DeGroff.
