COMMEMORATING the 50th Anniversary of the Police
Emerald Society of Westchester
WHEREAS, The State of New York takes great pride in acknowledging
significant milestones in the distinguished histories of its esteemed
entities; and
WHEREAS, The Police Emerald Society of Westchester will celebrate
its 50th Anniversary with a dinner dance to be held at Mulino's at Lake
Isle on Friday, April 27, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The Police Emerald Society of Westchester was established
in 1968 by six police officers; today, it is one of the largest and
oldest Emerald Societies in the Tri-State area; and
WHEREAS, The Police Emerald Society of Westchester develops and
fosters a spirit of camaraderie and fellowship, upholds and defends the
Constitution of the United States and New York State at all times,
instills and preserves the heritage of their Gaelic culture in its
members, and assists members and their families in times of need
whenever possible; and
WHEREAS, The Police Emerald Society of Westchester also awards
scholarships to children and grandchildren of Society members as
provided by its by-laws; and
WHEREAS, The Police Emerald Society of Westchester also participates
in St. Patrick's Day parades, the annual family picnic, award
ceremonies, a Christmas Party, and a bi-annual officer installation
dinner dance; and
WHEREAS, The Police Emerald Society of Westchester has a long and
distinguished history in the community; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Police Emerald Society of
Westchester; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Peter Van Slyck, President, Police Emerald Society of
Westchester.
