CONGRATULATING Frank Nicosia upon the occasion of
celebrating his 100th Birthday

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to commemorate
and recognize certain milestones celebrated by citizens of this great
Nation and Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
congratulate Frank Nicosia upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and

WHEREAS, Frank Nicosia was born on April 12, 1918, in Brocton, New
York, to parents, Anthony and Josephine; Frank attended Brocton Schools
and would go on to honorably serve his country as a member of the United
States Army during World War II, from 1941-1945; he would work for the
Railroad from 1956 until his retirement in 1987; and

WHEREAS, Frank Nicosia was married to his first wife, Josephine, and
later to his second wife, Alice; some of Frank's favorite pastimes
include hunting and traveling; and

WHEREAS, Frank Nicosia was drafted on August 13, 1941, under
Selective Service as part of the US Army's 361st Quartermaster outfit;
commonly known as "Nick," his tenacity and ingenuity allowed him to be
routinely promoted; and

WHEREAS, Frank Nicosia played a huge roll in repairing DUCKs, which
were an amphibious vehicle, for the invasion of Normandy Beach; he
discovered DUCKs transmission issues were caused by saltwater
surroundings clogging the transmission and burning up the vehicle's
components; and

WHEREAS, Frank Nicosia has been a member of the American Legion
Fredonia Memorial Post No. 59 for an outstanding 71 years; he is a
colorful, plain spoken veteran with many stories and remembrances of
days gone by; and

WHEREAS, Residents of this great Empire State must never forget the
courage with which the men and women of the military serve their
country; the freedoms and security we cherish as Americans come at a
high price for those who have served the military in times of conflict;
and

WHEREAS, Special recognition should be given to those members of the
military who courageously serve their country; and

WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to publicly
recognize and honor the lives of beloved citizens who have reached a
remarkable age and who have witnessed and celebrated the outstanding
innovations, cultural developments, and awesome achievements of this
nation during the last century; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
congratulate Frank Nicosia upon the occasion of celebrating his 100th
Birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Frank Nicosia.
