COMMENDING Police Officer Ron Clark Jr. upon the
occasion of his retirement after 21 years of service
to the City of Buffalo

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
honor those distinguished officers and citizens who would devote
themselves to public service, demonstrating great courage and diligence
in providing for the care and welfare of the citizens of their
communities and this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Within every community of the State of New York there are
certain individuals who, by virtue of their commitment and dedication,
command the respect and admiration of their community for their
exemplary contributions and service on behalf of others; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to commend Police
Officer Ron Clark Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement after 21 years
of service to the City of Buffalo; and

WHEREAS, During his illustrious career with the Buffalo Police
Department, Officer Ron Clark Jr. was the recipient of several awards
including the Butler Award, which he received twice for his remarkable
bravery; and

WHEREAS, Disregarding his personal well-being, Officer Ron Clark Jr.
maintained his position in the pursuit of a culprit to ensure the safety
of the citizens as he took direct fire from fleeing suspects on May 14,
2007; because of his outstanding valor during this tremulous time, he
received the 100 Club of Buffalo Award; and

WHEREAS, Retiring as the rank of Patrolman, Officer Ron Clark Jr.
was honored nine times as Officer of the Month with the Buffalo Police
Department; and

WHEREAS, Officer Ron Clark Jr. demonstrated his character and
compassion for the welfare of others; personifying, by virtue of his
actions, the collective concern of ordinary citizens across the State of
New York, who are readily willing to respond when others are in need of
help; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Police Officer Ron Clark Jr. upon the occasion of his retirement
after 21 years of service to the City of Buffalo; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Police Officer Ron Clark Jr.
