COMMENDING Frederick Ahart upon the occasion of
being named the Section 9 Athletic Administrator of
the Year

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to acknowledge
the distinguished educators and athletic coaches who serve the youth of
this great Empire State and who have distinguished themselves and their
schools through outstanding commitment and exemplary athletic
achievements; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Frederick Ahart upon the occasion of being named the Section 9
Athletic Administrator of the Year, to be celebrated at a luncheon in
Saratoga Springs, New York; and

WHEREAS, Affectionately known to his athletes as Coach, Frederick
Ahart also won this prestigious award in 1993; and

WHEREAS, After graduating from Ithaca College, Frederick "Fred"
Ahart began his 49-year career as the Athletic Director of Roscoe
Central School; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Ahart has also made a vital impact throughout New
York State's Section 9; he has been a vital member of the Section 9
Athletic Council since 1980, holding the position of President from
1994-1996; for over 40 years, he has been a participant of the Section 9
Basketball Committee, serving as co-Chair since 1996; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Frederick Ahart has been a member of the
Section 9 Eligibility Committee for over three decades, and has been the
Chairman since 2003; and

WHEREAS, Perhaps his most important title has been Coach of both the
boys basketball and football teams; throughout his career, he has led
the Blue Devils to numerous league and sectional titles; and

WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to high school
athletics, Coach Ahart was inducted into the Basketball Coaches
Association of New York (BCANY) Hall of Fame in 2009; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Becky, their five
children, Maryanne, Katie, Michelle, Kelly and Ralph, and many
grandchildren, all of whom have shown him love and support and rejoice
in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, Frederick Ahart's enduring success as a coach and mentor
has earned him the just respect and admiration of his community, his
peers, and the athletes he has so ably coached; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is moved to recognize Frederick Ahart
for his extraordinary athletic and coaching accomplishments which are a
tribute to his skill, dedication and commitment; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations with
praise and pride to commend Frederick Ahart upon the occasion of being
named the Section 9 Athletic Administrator of the Year; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Frederick Ahart.
