MOURNING the death of Chelsie Marie Davis,
distinguished citizen and devoted member of her
community
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to pay tribute to
citizens of the State of New York whose lifework and civic endeavor
served to enhance the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and
WHEREAS, Chelsie Marie Davis of Brooklyn, New York died on July 22,
2017, at the age of 26; and
WHEREAS, Born on April 21, 1991, to Tony Davis and Dawn Jones,
Chelsie Marie Davis loved music and movies as a child, and found her
passion in dance and charm school; and
WHEREAS, Chelsie Marie Davis attended New Utrecht High School where
she performed in musicals and was a member of the Cheerleading Team;
upon graduating, she went on to earn an associate's degree from
Kingsborough College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science
from The Colin Powell School at The City College of New York; and
WHEREAS, Chelsie Marie Davis distinguished herself in her profession
and by her sincere dedication and substantial contribution to the
welfare of her community; and
WHEREAS, After working for a number of years at Finish Line in
Herald Square, Chelsie Marie Davis was most recently employed as a
Customer Service Representative for Spectrum Cable Television; and
WHEREAS, Chelsie Marie Davis' commitment to excellence, and her
spirit of humanity, carried over into all fields of enterprise,
including charitable and civic endeavors; she was a member of The Love
Fellowship Tabernacle of Brooklyn, New York, under the pastorship of
Bishop Hezekiah Walker; and
WHEREAS, Predeceased by her grandparents, Melvin and Bessie Davis,
Chelsie Marie Davis is survived by her parents, Dawn and Tony; a
brother, Davante; grandparents, William and Trenace; great-grandmother,
Madeline; six aunts, Mary, Kelsey, Barbara, Valerie, Danielle and
Alexis; five uncles, William, Terrance, Dante, Kim Sr. and Tyrone; 12
cousins, Candace, Brittany, Joshua, Brielle, Kim Jr., Ronald, Brittany,
Taylor, Sian, Sanai, Peyton and Eason; Godmother, Adrienne; Godfathers,
Timothy and Brian; Godsiblings, Jayla and Jayden; great friends,
Jasmine, Nikaya, Gabriel and Tory; and the love of her life, Maurice
Mamon, as well as many other family and friends; and
WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit and imbued with a sense of
compassion, Chelsie Marie Davis leaves behind a legacy which will long
endure the passage of time and will remain as a comforting memory to all
she served and befriended; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
mourn the death of Chelsie Marie Davis, distinguished citizen and
devoted member of her community; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Chelsie Marie Davis.
