COMMENDING Detective John T. Hynes upon the
occasion of his designation for special recognition
by the Detective Barney Ferguson Emerald Legacy Fund
on May 31, 2018

WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Detective John T. Hynes upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Detective Barney Ferguson Emerald Legacy Fund
to be celebrated at its 4th Annual 10-13/May Day Event on Thursday, May
31, 2018, at Juliano's Restaurant in New Rochelle, New York; and

WHEREAS, A man of singular distinction, Detective John T. Hynes has
continually demonstrated extreme competence, extraordinary intelligence
and diligent leadership in his unwavering service to his community and
profession and consequently has been selected for this most prestigious
honor; and

WHEREAS, John Hynes earned his bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice
from Mercy College; currently, he is working on his master's degree in
Criminal Justice from Iona College; and

WHEREAS, John Hynes began his long and distinguished career in law
enforcement with the New Rochelle Police Department in 1989; two years
later, he was assigned to the department's first Community Police Unit;
and

WHEREAS, In 1992, Officer John Hynes was transferred to the Pelham
Police Department; in 1996, he began working with its first Community
Police Unit; and

WHEREAS, Officer John Hynes truly enjoys sharing his knowledge and
skills with others; for many years, he has served in various teaching
roles such as DARE Officer, New York State Certified Juvenile Officer,
and a Certified General Topics Instructor at Westchester Police Academy;
and

WHEREAS, After 13 years of service, Officer John Hynes was promoted
to the esteemed title of Detective in 2002; and

WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his
profession, Detective John Hynes has been the recipient of 20 Class
Awards; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Jessica, and their
three daughters, Julianne, Catherine, and Sofia, all of whom have shown
him love and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and


WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers as Detective John T. Hynes for their valued
contributions to the community; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Detective John T. Hynes upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition by the Detective Barney Ferguson Emerald Legacy Fund
on May 31, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Detective John T. Hynes.
