HONORING Joseph Forlini upon the occasion of his
designation as Businessman of the Year by the
National Police Defense Foundation on May 2, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize the
achievements of those individuals and businesses which substantially
contribute to the economic vitality of their communities and the entire
Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Joseph Forlini upon the occasion of his designation as Businessman of
the Year by the National Police Defense Foundation, to be celebrated at
its Annual Awards Dinner on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Russo's on the
Bay, Howard Beach, New York; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Forlini is being honored with this auspicious award
in recognition of his lifelong accomplishments as a successful
businessman and fervent support and service to the law enforcement
community; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Forlini, co-owner of Forlini's Restaurant, has been
serving the law enforcement community for more than 50 years; and
WHEREAS, Opening the restaurant located in New York City's Little
Italy on Baxter Street in 1943, Joseph Forlini's grandfather established
a close and permanent relationship between Forlini's Restaurant and the
5th Precinct of the City of New York Police Department; and
WHEREAS, A resident of West Nyack, New York, Joseph Forlini admires
and deeply appreciates the dedication, service, and respect that all law
enforcement agencies continue to display towards the Forlini family and
Forlini's Restaurant; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unremitting commitment to the local
law enforcement community, Forlini's Restaurant hosts dinners and
meetings for the National Police Defense Foundation, Society of
Professional Investigators, and the Lieutenants Benevolent Association,
among others; and
WHEREAS, Under the able leadership of Joseph Forlini, Forlini's
Restaurant has been a special home for all law enforcement agencies;
while the surrounding area continues to change, this extraordinary
establishment remains a permanent fixture among law enforcement agencies
and a true staple of the neighborhood; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, television shows, such as "Law & Order: SVU"
and "Blue Bloods" have used Forlini's Restaurant as a background for
numerous scenes involving law enforcement; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife and their four
children, all of whom have shown him love and support and rejoice in his
many achievements; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Joseph Forlini has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and businesses of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Joseph Forlini upon the occasion of his designation as Businessman
of the Year by the National Police Defense Foundation on May 2, 2018;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Joseph Forlini.
