HONORING Stein Farms of Leroy, New York, upon the
occasion of its designation as recipient of the 2016
Agricultural Business of the Year by the Genesee
County Chamber of Commerce on March 4, 2017

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
efforts of our farmers as they continue their hard work of cultivating
the land, facing the many challenges of nature such as flood, drought
and heat, in order to grow our food; and

WHEREAS, The agricultural industry of the State of New York is
highly benefited by the active promotion of farming endeavors and
agricultural products; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Stein Farms of Leroy, New York, upon the occasion of its designation as
recipient of the 2016 Agricultural Business of the Year Award by the
Genesee County Chamber of Commerce to be celebrated on Saturday, March
4, 2017, at the Quality Inn and Suites in Batavia, New York; and

WHEREAS, Stein Farms is receiving this auspicious award for its
continued growth and commitment to Genesee County; and

WHEREAS, Established more than half a century ago, Stein Farms is a
modern, multi-generational family farm devoted to environmental
stewardship, satisfying employment, compassionate animal care, and
community support; and

WHEREAS, Today, the brothers Dale and Ray, now are business partners
at Stein Farms with Dale's son, Nate, and Ray's children, Tasha and
Jerrod; and

WHEREAS, With the help of Stein Farms, the community has prospered
greatly; family members are on countless boards and committees, locally,
regionally and at the state level; and

WHEREAS, Stein Farms provides leadership to guide agricultural land
use and farmland protection; they also sponsor festivals, support
hospitals and churches, and support agriculture-related efforts needing
their creative and financial service; the family believes in the
importance of using their agricultural business to support the local
community; and

WHEREAS, Businesses such as Stein Farms exert a strong, positive
influence on the communities they serve and are a crucial element on the
economy of New York state; and

WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that this Legislative Body
acknowledges this exceptional business and its contributions to the
local and State economies, fully confident that it will continue to
enjoy the sparkling successes it has experienced thus far; now,
therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Stein Farms of Leroy, New York, upon the occasion of its
designation as recipient of the 2016 Agricultural Business of the Year
Award by the Genesee County Chamber of Commerce; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Stein Farms.
