HONORING Ex-Captain John Pease upon the occasion
of his designation for special recognition after 50
years of dedicated service to the Hicksville
Volunteer Fire Department
WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our noble volunteer firefighters who exhibit courage and
bravery every day in the course of their duties; and
WHEREAS, Volunteer firefighters exemplify the power of human
compassion and the strength of the American spirit through actions of
the most heroic magnitude; their sacrifices and their selfless
dedication merit tribute and recognition by all citizens of this great
country; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Ex-Captain
John Pease upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 50 years of dedicated service to the Hicksville Volunteer Fire
Department, to be celebrated with a Barbeque Luncheon in his honor on
Saturday, June 2, 2018, in Hicksville, New York; and
WHEREAS, John "Jack" Pease honorably served his country as a member
of the United States Coast Guard from September of 1963 until August of
1967; and
WHEREAS, Upon the completion of his military service, John Pease
joined the Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department on February 13, 1968, as
a member of Hook and Ladder Company No. 1; in January of the following
year, he transferred to Independent Engine & Hose Company No. 2; and
WHEREAS, Throughout his illustrious 50-year tenure, John Pease has
served as 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant and Captain; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to the Department, John Pease gave of his time
and energies to numerous committees including the annual Labor Day
committee and the Department picnic committee; he is also a member of
the Hicks Drill Team and serves as a Trustee in the EXEMPTS Association
since 2000; and
WHEREAS, John Pease is an active member of the Firemen's Association
State of New York (FASNY), and proudly served the FDNY, retiring in
1999, from the esteemed position of Lieutenant; and
WHEREAS, Firefighters unwaveringly serve our great State with pride,
valor, and integrity; these respected volunteers are often the first to
respond to an emergency, whether the emergency is a fire, transportation
accident, natural disaster, act of terrorism, medical crisis, or spill
of hazardous materials; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help
others and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need;
John Pease is such a firefighter; throughout 50 years of devoted
service, this volunteer heroically performed, above and beyond the call
of duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire
protection; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Ex-Captain John Pease upon the occasion of his designation for
special recognition after 50 years of dedicated service to the
Hicksville Volunteer Fire Department; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Ex-Captain John Pease.
