COMMENDING Barbara Federman upon the occasion of
her retirement after 30 years of distinguished
service to Bryant Library in Roslyn, New York

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body seeks to acknowledge those
individuals whose professional lives and civic endeavors serve to
enhance the stature of the State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, it is the sense of this Legislative Body to
commend Barbara Federman upon the occasion of her retirement after 30
years of distinguished service to Bryant Library in Roslyn, New York;
and

WHEREAS, Barbara Federman began her long and distinguished career as
a librarian working at the circulation desk at the Glen Cove Library;
after 10 years of service, she became the Head of Circulation for Bryant
Library, a position she held for three decades; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, Barbara Federman strived to provide the
community with access to ideas and to promote lifelong reading for
pleasure and for knowledge by providing classic and popular literature
in a variety of formats; she was committed to providing materials and
services sufficient to meet the personal, educational, and professional
needs of community residents of all ages; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Federman was always available to help her patrons
find what they were looking for and deeply appreciated that an informed
community values its intellectual freedoms and respects and tolerates
diverse ideas and opinions; and

WHEREAS, In her official acts, Barbara Federman was governed by a
keen sense of duty and always showed a unique grasp of human problems;
during her tenure with Bryant Library, she earned the admiration, esteem
and affection of her colleagues; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Barbara Federman upon the occasion of her retirement after 30
years of distinguished service to Bryant Library, and to wish her
continued success in all her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Barbara Federman.
