HONORING The Reverend W. Taharka Robinson upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Community Service Leadership Award by the Community
Council for Medgar Evers College, Inc. on April 21,
2018

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend W. Taharka Robinson has given not only of his
time and energies but also of his competence, intelligence and
leadership and consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
The Reverend W. Taharka Robinson upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Community Service Leadership Award by the Community
Council for Medgar Evers College, Inc. to be celebrated at its Annual
Spring Scholarship and Leadership Awards Luncheon on Saturday, April 21,
2018; and

WHEREAS, Established in 1972, the Community Council for Medgar Evers
College, Inc. includes residents, organizations, faculty, students and
all elected officials of the Central Brooklyn community who support the
mission of the College, and since 1980, have provided more than 220,000
dollars in scholarships to deserving students through fundraising
events, outside grants and contributions; and

WHEREAS, The Reverend W. Taharka Robinson has been called upon to
contribute his time and talents to countless civic and charitable
endeavors and has always given of himself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, W. Taharka Robinson founded The
Brooklyn Anti-Violence Coalition to empower people through social and
political awareness in addition to teaching the power of
self-sufficiency in a community; and

WHEREAS, In 2002, W. Taharka Robinson founded Urban Political
Consulting Group, a full service consulting firm which handles every
phase of a candidate's campaign, from strategy, management, community
outreach, polling, media and field coordination; and

WHEREAS, Targeting urban communities throughout the State of New
York, the Urban Political Consulting Group became sought after by
candidates in federal, state, and municipal elections; through his
commitment and dedication, W. Taharka Robinson successfully orchestrated
the election of 10 Judges to the Kings County Civil Court; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of W. Taharka Robinson, the
Urban Political Consulting Group was instrumental in securing the
election of numerous high-profile clients throughout New York; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Reverend W. Taharka Robinson upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Community Service Leadership Award by
the Community Council for Medgar Evers College, Inc. on April 21, 2018;
and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Reverend W. Taharka Robinson.
