HONORING The Reverend Dr. Daryl G. Bloodsaw upon
the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Ecumenical Leadership Award by the Community Council
for Medgar Evers College, Inc. on April 21, 2018

WHEREAS, The character and richness of religious and community life
in this noble Empire State is nourished and fulfilled through the
faithful concern and selfless devotion of those who would commit their
energies and purpose to the ministry of others; and

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to bring full
recognition and just tribute to those individuals who distinguish
themselves and the ministry through their unremitting commitment and
preeminence of service; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
The Reverend Dr. Daryl G. Bloodsaw upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the Ecumenical Leadership Award by the Community Council
for Medgar Evers College, Inc. to be celebrated at its Annual Spring
Scholarship and Leadership Awards Luncheon on Saturday, April 21, 2018;
and

WHEREAS, Established in 1972, The Community Council for Medgar Evers
College, Inc. includes residents, organizations, faculty, students and
all elected officials of the Central Brooklyn community who support the
mission of the College, and since 1980, has provided more than 220,000
dollars in scholarships to deserving students through fundraising
events, outside grants and contributions; and

WHEREAS, Born and raised in Monroe, Georgia, Daryl G. Bloodsaw
earned his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of
Georgia; he then received his Master of Divinity from New York
Theological Seminary (NYTS), where he graduated at the top of his class;
during his time at the Seminary, he held the title of President of the
Student Association; and

WHEREAS, In 2010, Reverend Daryl G. Bloodsaw organized a coalition
of several seminaries in the Northeast which responded to the
catastrophic earthquake in Haiti by making a significant donation to
Doctors Without Borders; and

WHEREAS, For his steadfast and unremitting commitment to his faith
and numerous ministries, Reverend Daryl G. Bloodsaw was the recipient of
many awards and accolades including The Reverend Dr. William and Barbara
Howard Scholarship and the New Testament Award by the American Bible
Institute; in April of 2014, he was recognized by New York Theological
Seminary as a Rising Alumnus; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Daryl G. Bloodsaw furthered his education by
obtaining a Doctor of Ministry degree in Transformative Leadership with
a concentration on Prophetic Preaching from Colgate Rochester Crozer
Divinity School in Rochester, New York; his dissertation was entitled

"Transformative Ministry For Black Men Returning Home From
Incarceration"; and

WHEREAS, During this time, Reverend Dr. Daryl G. Bloodsaw was a
Teaching Assistant in Old Testament, Exegesis Practicum, and New
Testament classes at NYTS; in July of 2016, he was chosen to serve on
the Board of Trustees of NYTS, and is currently teaching Introduction to
Old Testament and Introduction to New Testament courses in the Master of
Professional Studies program at Sing Sing Correctional Facility in
Ossining, New York; and

WHEREAS, In addition to his work with his alma mater, Reverend Dr.
Daryl G. Bloodsaw is the Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Crown
Heights, Brooklyn; committed to strengthening and empowering the black
church and the black family, his socially-conscious, hope-filled, and
spirit-led teaching and preaching seek to inspire "the least of these"
to live up to and to live out God's promise of a future with hope; and

WHEREAS, With a demonstrated record of management and administration
in corporate America, Reverend Dr. Daryl G. Bloodsaw was chosen to serve
on the New York Times' inaugural Corporate Diversity Committee helping
to shape and prepare the company for future growth and relevance in the
digital marketplace; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his community, Reverend Dr. Daryl G. Bloodsaw
is a vital member of many local organizations; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Brenda, and their
four children, Tabitha, Nia, Imani, and Daryl II., all of whom have
shown him love and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, This distinguished man of God has always given
enlightenment, guidance and wisdom to the many entrusted to his care and
has administered abundantly and unstintingly to the spiritual and
corporal needs of all; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when a person
of such noble aims and accomplishments is brought to our attention it is
appropriate to publicly and jubilantly proclaim and commend that
individual for the edification of others; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor The Reverend Dr. Daryl G. Bloodsaw upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Ecumenical Leadership Award by the
Community Council for Medgar Evers College, Inc. on April 21, 2018; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to The Reverend Dr. Daryl G. Bloodsaw.
