HONORING Rosemary Cashman upon the occasion of her
designation for special recognition by Fontbonne
Hall Academy on April 21, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Rosemary Cashman upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Fontbonne Hall Academy, to be celebrated at its Diamonds
and Pearls 80th Anniversary Gala on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at the El
Caribe Country Club, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born in Brooklyn, New York in 1927, Rosemary Cashman grew
up in Holy Innocents parish; the older of two girls, she attended the
parish elementary school and Fontbonne Hall Academy; and

WHEREAS, At Fontbonne Hall Academy, Rosemary Cashman was active on
the school newspaper, Folio, and participated in several class plays;
she is forever grateful for the scholastic and spiritual ideals fostered
by the teaching nuns; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary Cashman graduated as Valedictorian in 1945, before
receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math and Science from St.
Joseph's College; she went on to earn a Master of Science degree in
Education and Math from Fordham University; and

WHEREAS, In 1953, Rosemary married John Cashman, and until the late
1960s, she stayed home to raise their nine children, Judith, Joseph,
Christopher, William, Elizabeth, Raymond, Mary, Robert and Frank; and

WHEREAS, Throughout her illustrious career, Rosemary Cashman worked
in the mathematics, engineering, physics, and teaching fields, and was
employed by Ballisic Research Lab, Bell Lab, Material Lab, and St.
Edmund High School; and

WHEREAS, Rosemary Cashman currently resides in Bay Ridge, where she
loves spending time with her husband, children and 10 grandchildren; in
her retirement, she also enjoys swimming, volunteer activities and
traveling; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Rosemary Cashman has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Rosemary Cashman upon the occasion of her designation for special
recognition by Fontbonne Hall Academy on April 21, 2018; and be it
further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Rosemary Cashman.
