HONORING Karen E. Gordon upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Polly Mason
Community Service Award by the Junior League of
Troy, New York, Inc.

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals it wishes to recognize for their
valued contributions to the success and progress of society and publicly
acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the basic humanity among
us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Karen E.
Gordon upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the Polly
Mason Community Service Award by the Junior League of Troy, New York,
Inc., to be celebrated with a Dinner, "At the Heart of the Community",
on Thursday, March 23, 2017, at the Franklin Plaza Ballroom, Troy, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Karen E. Gordon has been called upon to contribute her time
and talents to countless civic and charitable endeavors and has always
given of herself unstintingly; and

WHEREAS, The Junior League of Troy established this award in April
of 2000, in recognition of longtime League member Polly Mason, an
amazing volunteer, mentor and friend who sets the standards for others
to aspire; and

WHEREAS, Karen E. Gordon, former Executive Director of the
Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO), is being recognized with this
auspicious award for her significant contributions to the social,
economic, educational, cultural and civic conditions of the community,
as well as for being both a loyal and efficient member of the community;
and

WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Karen E. Gordon has stood constant
in dignity, good grace and humor; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Karen E. Gordon has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Karen E. Gordon, that future generations may know and appreciate her
admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it


RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Karen E. Gordon upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Polly Mason Community Service Award by the Junior League of Troy,
New York, Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Karen E. Gordon.
