HONORING Sharon Ossip Fisher upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the President's
Award by the Capital District YMCA on April 12, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare of the community
and its citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sharon Ossip Fisher upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the President's Award by the Capital District YMCA to be celebrated on
Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the Albany Marriott in Albany, New York;
and
WHEREAS, Sharon Ossip Fisher is being recognized with this
auspicious award for displaying a deep commitment to strengthening the
community and for sharing the YMCA's passion for helping those in need
in every community of the Capital District; and
WHEREAS, A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Sharon Ossip Fisher
earned her bachelor's degree in Speech Communications from Indiana
University; and
WHEREAS, In 1985, Sharon Ossip Fisher began her distinguished
30-year career in the hotel industry as a Conference Coordinator with
the Albany Marriott Hotel; she then moved into Catering Sales, where she
was responsible for booking and detailing a wide variety of groups; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Ossip Fisher was promoted to the title of Director
of Catering, the position from which she officially retired from in
March of 2016; under her luminous leadership, the Albany Marriott became
the Capital Region's premier catering venue; and
WHEREAS, A 1992 graduate of the Capital Leadership Program, Sharon
Ossip Fisher has shared her many experiences and vast knowledge with
various Marriott hotels, helping them to build and improve their
Catering Sales Departments; and
WHEREAS, Sharon Ossip Fisher has been a vital volunteer with the
Capital District YMCA for over 10 years serving in various roles such as
Chair of the Board of Directors Fundraising Committee; in this capacity,
she successfully coordinated many annual campaigns which have helped
this vital organization serve more people; and
WHEREAS, As a member of both the Capital District YMCA Board of
Directors Executive Committee and the Capital District Executive Women's
Golf Association, Sharon Ossip Fisher chaired the YMCA's Annual Golf
Tournament fundraiser; she also volunteered her time and energy to the
Capital District Retired Senior Volunteer Program; and
WHEREAS, Today, Sharon Ossip Fisher continues to actively
participate in the YMCA's Running Start Programs which help children
obtain school supplies and clothing for the new school year; and
WHEREAS, Throughout the entire period of her community service, a
period of constructive involvement, Sharon Ossip Fisher has stood
constant in dignity, good grace and humor; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Sharon Ossip Fisher has
displayed over the years; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the well-being and vitality of their community and have shown a
long and sustained commitment to excellence certainly have earned the
recognition and applause of all the citizens of this great Empire State;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sharon Ossip Fisher upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the President's Award by the Capital District YMCA on April
12, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sharon Ossip Fisher.
