HONORING Sergeant Andrew Vishnevskiy upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the 2018
Oscar Award by the Bay Improvement Group (BIG) on
April 19, 2018
WHEREAS, The quality and sanctity of community life are cherished
values, worthy of safeguarding, and this Legislative Body is moved to
honor those individuals who serve to preserve and protect such values,
lauding particularly their unwavering courage and dedication in the
daily performance of their duties; and
WHEREAS, It is appropriate to recognize and commend such outstanding
law enforcement officers as Sergeant Andrew Vishnevskiy for their valued
contributions to the community; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Sergeant Andrew Vishnevskiy upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the 2018 Oscar Award by the Bay Improvement Group (BIG) to
be celebrated at its Awards Dinner for Distinguished Community Service
on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Il Fornetto in Sheepshead Bay, New York;
and
WHEREAS, This prestigious award recognizes those individuals who
serve and contribute to the Brooklyn community; Sergeant Andrew
Vishnevskiy is truly deserving of this commendation for his outstanding
investigative work with the NYPD Detective Squad; and
WHEREAS, Born in the Ukraine, Andrew Vishnevskiy and his family
emigrated to the United States and settled in the Sheepshead Bay area;
after graduating from James Madison High School, he earned his degree
from John Jay College; and
WHEREAS, A seven-year veteran of the NYPD, Sergeant Andrew
Vishnevskiy has served as a Crime Prevention Officer for over four
years; in this capacity, he has assisted the detective squad with
various investigative support functions; and
WHEREAS, During the spring of 2017, Sergeant Andrew Vishnevskiy
successfully obtained video and positively identified two suspects in
two separate crime patterns; and
WHEREAS, Due to Sergeant Andrew Vishnevskiy's steadfast efforts, the
perpetrators were apprehended and consequently, numerous robberies,
burglaries, and grand larcenies were finally solved; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife and their two
children, all of whom have shown him love and support and rejoice in his
many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those
dedicated public servants who unselfishly devote their lives to the
preservation of order and the protection of others are worthy and due
full praise for their commitment and noble endeavors; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Sergeant Andrew Vishnevskiy upon the occasion of his designation
as recipient of the 2018 Oscar Award by the Bay Improvement Group (BIG);
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Sergeant Andrew Vishnevskiy.
