HONORING Charles C. McNally posthumously upon the
occasion of his designation as recipient of the J.
Lally Lifetime Achievement Award by the Brooklyn
Shamrocks GFC

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Charles C. McNally posthumously upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the J. Lally Lifetime Achievement Award by the Brooklyn
Shamrocks GFC, to be celebrated at its 41st Annual Dinner Dance on
Friday, May 4, 2018, at Bay Ridge Manor, Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Charlie C. McNally was a lifelong supporter of Gaelic
Football both at home in County Longford, Ireland, and in his adopted
home of Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born in 1930 in Aughacordrinan, County Longford, Charles C.
McNally was the fourth of eight children, and is reported to have been
mischievous from a very young age; and

WHEREAS, The McNally's were well known footballers in Longford, and
were blessed with the riches of family and good friends in and around
Molly Hill; and

WHEREAS, Charles C. McNally followed his sisters, Mary and Margaret,
to the United States in the late 1950s, joining the New York Telephone
Company, and later the United States Army, before becoming a United
States citizen; and

WHEREAS, Known far and wide for his love of fishing, Charles C.
McNally was an avid supporter of the Brooklyn Shamrocks, where he served
as the team's President for many years; and

WHEREAS, Charles C. McNally passed away after a long bout with
Parkinson's disease in early 2018, leaving behind countless memories and
stories that will bring smiles to the faces of those lucky enough to
have known him; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Charles C. McNally displayed
throughout his life; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals of such noble aims and accomplishments are brought to our
attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by all the citizens
of this great Empire State; now, therefore be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Charles C. McNally posthumously upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the J. Lally Lifetime Achievement Award by
the Brooklyn Shamrocks GFC; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the family of Charles C. McNally.
