COMMENDING the Urban Assembly School for Law and
Justice upon the occasion of hosting its Annual
Spring Benefit on April 30, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of commitment and high achievement whose
purpose and endeavors prove a dedication to the pursuit of excellence in
the education of the youth of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice upon the occasion
of hosting its Annual Spring Benefit on Monday, April 30, 2018, at
Midtown Loft & Terrace in New York, New York; and
WHEREAS, The Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice is a public
high school which serves a population of at-risk, low-income students
from historically disadvantaged communities across Brooklyn and other
boroughs; and
WHEREAS, Remaining true to its mission, the Urban Assembly School
for Law and Justice has been instrumental in overcoming the opportunity
gap by providing its students with a rigorous academic, enrichment and
college-preparatory curriculum which enables them to get into and thrive
in college and succeed in their careers; and
WHEREAS, Through its three pillars of education, intensive academic
instruction, robust enrichment offerings woven into the curriculum and
individualized college preparatory support, the Urban Assembly School
for Law and Justice gives its students the tools necessary to create a
brighter future; and
WHEREAS, Furthermore, this esteemed institution promotes
individualized instruction which draws on each student's potential,
while at the same time emphasizing students' collective power as
citizens to call for positive change in the world; and
WHEREAS, The Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice has
continually demonstrated an impressive dedication, an unparalleled
devotion and an unremitting enthusiasm for the quality of educational
programs and opportunities offered for the benefit of its faculty and
students as well as for the entire community; and
WHEREAS, It is only fitting that this Legislative Body extend its
highest commendation to the administration, teachers, staff and students
of the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice for their dedication
and commitment to education; and
WHEREAS, The Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice has been an
integral part of the history of its community, representing a dynamic,
responsive and positive force within the educational system of New York
State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice upon the occasion
of hosting its Annual Spring Benefit on April 30, 2018; and be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the Urban Assembly School for Law and Justice.
