COMMENDING Success Academy Charter Schools upon
the occasion of hosting its Annual Spring Benefit on
April 23, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of commitment and high achievement whose
purpose and endeavors prove a dedication to the pursuit of excellence in
the education of the youth of this noble Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Success Academy Charter Schools upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual Spring Benefit on Monday, April 23, 2018, at Cipriani 42nd Street
in New York, New York; and
WHEREAS, Established by a small group of educators in 2006, Success
Academy Charter Schools was created to build world-class schools in New
York City and to advance educational justice across the city and
eventually the country; and
WHEREAS, Since its inception, Success Academy Charter Schools have
epitomized ingenuity in the field of education, providing world class
instruction to children of all socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds; and
WHEREAS, Today, Success Academy Charter Schools consists of 46
schools with 15,500 students; the network is ranked No. 1 in student
achievement in the State of New York; and
WHEREAS, The Schools' scholars are provided with many opportunities
to express themselves through dance, art and music; they learn through
books and experiments, and find fun and friendship in everything they
do, whether it be soccer or basketball games, or debate and chess
tournaments; and
WHEREAS, In 2017, Success Academy Charter Schools achieved numerous
goals such as the opening of its second high school, the launch of its
Education Institute for sharing its curriculum and best practices, and
receiving the Broad Prize for best charter network in the Nation; and
WHEREAS, In the future, Success Academy Charter Schools plans to
create a pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade district of 100 schools
which truly believe in critical thinking, creative problem solving, and
building character; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Founder and CEO Eva
Moskowitz, Success Academy Charter Schools has continually demonstrated
an impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting
enthusiasm for the quality of educational programs and opportunities
offered for the benefit of its faculty and students as well as for the
entire community; and
WHEREAS, The steadfast and unyielding commitment of parents,
educators and administrators to provide the highest quality education
for students is the hallmark and tradition of Success Academy Charter
Schools; and
WHEREAS, The outstanding administration at Success Academy Charter
Schools has fostered a learning environment which promotes the maximum
growth of every student, enabling each student to develop the vital
skills necessary to succeed throughout their later school years; and
WHEREAS, Success Academy Charter Schools is proudly aware of its
distinguished past, eager to fulfill its present commitment to parents,
students and the community, and planning with vision and purpose for the
ebb and swell of growth and change it will encounter in the years to
come; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Success Academy Charter Schools upon the occasion of hosting its
Annual Spring Benefit on April 23, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Eva Moskowitz, Founder and CEO, Success Academy Charter
Schools.
