HONORING Daniel Herberger upon the occasion of his
designation for special recognition after 50 years
of dedicated service to the Swormville Fire Company
on February 25, 2017
WHEREAS, Citizens across our State and Nation are inspired by and
indebted to our noble volunteer firefighters who exhibit courage and
bravery every day in the course of their duties; and
WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Daniel
Herberger upon the occasion of his designation for special recognition
after 50 years of dedicated service to the Swormville Fire Company to be
celebrated at their Annual Installation Dinner on Saturday, February 25,
2017; and
WHEREAS, At the age of 24, Daniel Herberger joined the Swormville
Fire Company on July 11, 1966; throughout his 50 years of service, he
held several positions within the Department including, President from
1970-1972, a member of the Board of Directors from 1973-1981, as well as
1st Assistant Chief from 1982-1983; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout has been his wife, Rosemary, and his
four loving children, Kevin, Debbie, Eric and Dan, all of whom feel
privileged to be a part of his life and rejoice in his achievements; and
WHEREAS, An electrician by trade and former Town Supervisor in the
Town of Clarence, Daniel Herberger has dedicated his life to
firefighting; he has chaired many committees and groups during his
tenure with the fire department; in addition, he is a member of FASNY
and Amherst Fire Council; and
WHEREAS, Firefighters unwaveringly serve our great State with pride,
valor, and integrity; these respected volunteers are often the first to
respond to an emergency, whether the emergency is a fire, transportation
accident, natural disaster, act of terrorism, medical crisis, or spill
of hazardous materials; and
WHEREAS, It takes a special dedication, a strong desire to help
others and a tireless sense of community to forsake precious time with
family and friends to respond to the signal that a neighbor is in need;
Daniel Herberger is such a firefighter; throughout 50 years of dedicated
service, he has heroically performed, above and beyond in the call of
duty, those responsibilities which define the task of fire protection;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Daniel Herberger upon the occasion of his designation for special
recognition after 50 years of dedicated service to the Swormville Fire
Company on February 25, 2017; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Daniel Herberger.
