HONORING Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP upon the
occasion of its designation as a Champion of Justice
by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley on May 17,
2018

WHEREAS, It is incumbent upon the people of the State of New York to
recognize and acknowledge those within our midst who have made
significant contributions to the quality of life therein; and

WHEREAS, From time to time this Legislative Body takes note of
certain extraordinary individuals and organizations it wishes to
recognize for their valued contributions to the success and progress of
society and publicly acknowledge their endeavors which have enhanced the
basic humanity among us all; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Jacobowitz
and Gubits, LLP upon the occasion of its designation as a Champion of
Justice by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley, to be celebrated at its
2nd Annual Orange & Sullivan Partners in Justice Reception on Thursday,
May 17, 2018, at The Meadowbrook, New Windsor, New York; and

WHEREAS, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley's mission is to provide
free, high quality counsel in civil matters for poor and low-income
individuals and families who cannot afford to pay an attorney when their
basic human needs are at stake; and

WHEREAS, As a prominent and well-respected law firm celebrating a
milestone anniversary this year, Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP will be
honored with this auspicious award in recognition of its 50 years of
service to individual, business, non-profit and municipal clients and
the Mid-Hudson Valley communities it serves; and

WHEREAS, Jacobowitz and Gubits' 20-plus attorneys and full-time
staff of paralegals and legal assistants bring substantial experience,
legal knowledge and effective resources to both simple and complex legal
matters involving a wide range of practice areas and achieve
consistently effective results; and

WHEREAS, The firm and its partners have been the proud recipients of
numerous awards and accolades, some of which include the Orange County
Chamber of Commerce's 2016 Medium Business of the Year Award; the 2016
Dorothy Kartashevich Consumer Award by the Community Health Care
Association of New York State; the Women's Bar Association of Orange &
Sullivan County's Outstanding Young Lawyer Award and the Orange County
Rising Star Award; and the Orange County Bar Association's 2008 Lifetime
Achievement Award; and

WHEREAS, The extraordinary staff at Jacobowitz and Gubits has
distinguished themselves through an exemplary level of volunteerism and
pro bono service to organizations serving diverse community interests,
including economic development, health and human services, arts and
culture, education, animal welfare, social clubs, sports, veterans and
more; and


WHEREAS, Over its illustrious 50-year history, Jacobowitz and
Gubits, LLP has demonstrated continuous service to the residents and
communities which it serves; and

WHEREAS, The success of Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP is in direct
correlation to the efforts of its staff, whose involvement is, and
always has been, characterized by an impressive commitment, an unbridled
enthusiasm, and an uncompromising standard of excellence in all
endeavors on behalf of the organization and the community it serves; and

WHEREAS, This auspicious occasion presents an opportunity for this
Legislative Body to recognize and pay tribute to Jacobowitz and Gubits,
LLP; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that when
individuals and organizations of such noble aims and accomplishments are
brought to our attention, they should be celebrated and recognized by
all the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP upon the occasion of its designation as
a Champion of Justice by Legal Services of the Hudson Valley on May 17,
2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jacobowitz and Gubits, LLP.
