HONORING Dr. Alisha Griffith upon the occasion of
her designation as recipient of the Business Award
by The Brooklyn Club of the National Association of
Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc.

WHEREAS, Individuals who give of their time and energies and serve
the best interests of their communities are an asset beyond remuneration
and cannot be sufficiently extolled; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Alisha Griffith has given not only of her time and
energies but also of her competence, intelligence and leadership and
consequently has been designated for special honor; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body is justly proud to honor Dr. Alisha
Griffith upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Business Award by The Brooklyn Club of the National Association of Negro
Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc., to be celebrated at its
51st Annual Founders' Day Observance, "Empowering Communities and
Shaping Lives," on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Gargiulo's Restaurant,
Brooklyn, New York; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Alisha "Ali" Griffith has been a compassionate
professionally trained educator, speech-language pathologist, and an
audiologist for nearly two decades; she has worked in schools, homes,
offices, and in her own practice, helping countless individuals with
speech and hearing difficulties to believe in themselves and shift their
self-talk; and

WHEREAS, In August of 2016, Dr. Alisha Griffith added number one
Best Selling Author to her list of credentials with her book, AU-MAZING
GIFT: A Journey to Autism Acceptance; in December of the following year,
she released Au-Mazing Gift: A Journey to Autism Acceptance (2nd
edition), which now includes interactive reading and access to
worksheets to encourage more active self-work; and

WHEREAS, With a true passion and willingness to help others, Dr.
Alisha Griffith has dedicated herself to igniting a change in autism
acceptance and inclusion, serving as an autism mom coach, communication
expert, and dynamic motivational speaker; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Alisha Griffith has created a movement to shift inner
dialogues from negative to gratitude and appreciation through the power
of listening and embracing differences and unique gifts; she believes
the key to success is in maintaining this positive mindset and staying
powerfully in action; and

WHEREAS, This extraordinary woman has been seen on Trinity
Broadcasting Network (TBN), Power Play TV and Comcast; she has also been
seen speaking on the stages of Steve Harvey's Act like a Success
Conference, Lisa Nichols' Speak and Write Conference and the Autism
Alliance of Michigan Conference; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Alisha Griffith has been featured in "The Network
Journal," "NY Metro Parents," "Caribbean Life News," and "Healthy Way";
she is a contributing writer to "Mom's N Charge" blog and has been
interviewed on "Guyanese Girls Rock" and "The Art of Autism"; and

WHEREAS, In addition, she has been interviewed for podcasts such as
"Autism Quality of Life," "The Riot Starter" on iHeartRadio, "Blog Talk
Radio" and "We Help You Thrive"; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dr. Alisha Griffith has
displayed throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dr. Alisha Griffith, that future generations may know and appreciate
her admirable character, her many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which she is held by her peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dr. Alisha Griffith upon the occasion of her designation as
recipient of the Business Award by The Brooklyn Club of the National
Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs, Inc.; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dr. Alisha Griffith.
