HONORING Robert Clarke upon the occasion of his
designation as recipient of the Volunteer of the
Year Award by the Food Pantries for the Capital
District on May 5, 2018
WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize and
pay tribute to those individuals within the Empire State who have made
strong contributions to their communities and who inspire others through
their model citizenry; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert Clarke upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of the
Volunteer of the Year Award by the Food Pantries for the Capital
District, to be celebrated at its 24th Annual Community Auction on
Saturday, May 5, 2018; and
WHEREAS, The unity of our State and Nation is built upon the
compassion of individuals such as Robert Clarke who uphold the values of
community life and who, through their great actions, epitomize the best
of humanity; and
WHEREAS, Robert Clarke is a founding member of the Brunswick Cares
Pantry where he has volunteered for the past nine years; he works
tirelessly with community groups to help his pantry and the
community-at-large; and
WHEREAS, A true asset to society, Robert Clarke was instrumental in
helping the Averill Park School District start a back pack program which
provides food for 45 of the district's students and their families; and
WHEREAS, In addition, this extraordinary man has fostered
relationships with local businesses to expand the bread donation program
for his pantry; due to his steadfast and unwavering efforts, he was able
to spread the good fortune to five other pantries; and
WHEREAS, Service to community and country is the foundation of our
society, and the contributions and future efforts of those in service to
them are a vital part of, and valuable asset to, the fabric of our
communities; and
WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Robert Clarke has displayed
throughout his life; and
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that individuals
who exemplify a spirit of humanity should be celebrated for their noble
efforts on behalf of others; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert Clarke upon the occasion of his designation as recipient of
the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Food Pantries for the Capital
District on May 5, 2018; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Robert Clarke.
