HONORING Cory E. Moore, Gregg P. Williams and
Roderick C. Cota posthumously upon the occasion of
being inducted into the New York State EMS Memorial
in Albany, New York, on May 23, 2018

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body cannot express sufficient gratitude
to those devoted individuals who recognize that the preservation of life
and property is a sacred responsibility and who make that responsibility
their own by serving as EMS volunteers; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Cory E. Moore, Gregg P. Williams and Roderick C. Cota posthumously upon
the occasion of being inducted into the New York State EMS Memorial at
the Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York, on Wednesday, May 23, 2018;
and

WHEREAS, Residents of St. Lawrence County, these dedicated
individuals believed in giving back to the region they loved so much;
they were members of R. B. Lawrence Ambulance, who made the ultimate
sacrifice on July 5, 2017, during a traffic accident while returning
from a medical transport call; and

WHEREAS, Cory E. Moore, Gregg P. Williams and Roderick C. Cota leave
a legacy which will long endure the passage of time and will remain as a
comforting memory to all they served and befriended; and their families
and friends feel privileged to have been a part of their lives and
rejoice in their many achievements; and

WHEREAS, An important part of the safety net of the healthcare
system in America, more than 50,000 dedicated Emergency Medical Services
providers, whether volunteer or career, provide lifesaving care to those
in need, 24 hours a day, seven days a week; and

WHEREAS, The Emergency Medical Services system is invaluable and
serves as a vital link between patients and other healthcare providers;
and

WHEREAS, Approximately 2.8 million calls are handled by Emergency
Medical Services providers each year in New York State, and Americans
benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these highly trained
individuals; and

WHEREAS, A great community is only as great as those persons and
organizations that provide exemplary service, through unique personal
achievement in their profession or other endeavors, or simply through a
lifetime of good citizenry; and

WHEREAS, This Legislative Body recognizes that the preservation of
life is a sacred responsibility, and honors who made that responsibility
their own by serving as EMS volunteers; and

WHEREAS, In the performance of their duties, Cory E. Moore, Gregg P.
Williams and Roderick C. Cota demonstrated their character and
compassion for the welfare of others; they were a tremendous asset to
their EMS Unit and distinguished citizens of this State and Nation; now,
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Cory E. Moore, Greg P. Williams and Roderick C. Cota posthumously
upon the occasion of being inducted into the New York State EMS Memorial
in Albany, New York, on May 23, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That copies of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to the families of Cory E. Moore, Gregg P. Williams and
Roderick C. Cota.
