CONGRATULATING Kenmore Mercy Hospital upon the
occasion of its designation for special recognition
after earning Leapfrog: Top Hospital status
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize those
institutions which have faithfully served the health needs of the
community and its citizens with diligence and compassionate commitment;
and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Kenmore Mercy Hospital upon the occasion of being named a Top
Hospital by The Leapfrog Group; and
WHEREAS, The Leapfrog Hospital Survey compares hospitals'
performance on national standards of safety, quality and efficiency that
are pertinent to consumers and purchasers of care; additionally,
eligible hospitals must earn a top score from Leapfrog's Hospital Safety
Score, which evaluates hospitals based on expert analysis of infections,
injuries and medical errors; and
WHEREAS, Leapfrog Top Hospitals traditionally have lower infection
rates, higher survival rates for high-risk procedures, decreased length
of stay and fewer readmissions; and
WHEREAS, Kenmore Mercy Hospital earned a grade of A in the biannual
Leapfrog Hospital Survey, a feat accomplished by only 30 percent of the
2,500 hospitals graded; and
WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of President and CEO Walter
Ludwig, Kenmore Mercy Hospital received this prestigious distinction for
its dedicated and proven commitment to both patient safety and quality;
and
WHEREAS, It is the intent of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality of life in the communities across this great State of New
York is enriched by the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations of distinction whose singular purpose is the care and
welfare of others; and
WHEREAS, Kenmore Mercy Hospital, and its expert staff, has had a
long and sustained commitment to the health and welfare of the citizens
of Buffalo, New York, and therefore merits the highest commendation of
this Legislative Body; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Kenmore Mercy Hospital upon the occasion of its designation for
special recognition after earning Leapfrog: Top Hospital status; and be
it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Walter Ludwig, President and CEO, Kenmore Mercy Hospital.
