HONORING T. Gregory Dewey, Ph.D. upon the occasion
of his designation as recipient of the Third Age
Achievement Award for Education by the Senior
Services of Albany

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
T. Gregory Dewey, Ph.D. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Third Age Achievement Award for Education by the Senior
Services of Albany, to be celebrated at its 22nd Annual Awards Luncheon
on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Wolferts Roost Country Club, Albany, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions that area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives; Dr. T. Gregory Dewey
will receive this award for his valuable achievements and devoted
service to his community after the age of 60; and

WHEREAS, Dr. T. Gregory Dewey became the ninth president of Albany
College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (ACPHS) on July 1, 2014; since
joining the college, he has been instrumental in the success of numerous
initiatives related to its expansion and growth; and

WHEREAS, In 2015, under the able leadership of Dr. T. Gregory Dewey,
Albany College of Pharmacy launched the Beyond Practice Ready campaign,
a fundraising initiative designed to provide students with the
resources, knowledge, and skills required for a rapidly evolving
workplace; and

WHEREAS, The core component of the Campaign was the opening of two
student operated pharmacies in Schenectady and Albany, making ACPHS the
only school in the country with two such pharmacies; and

WHEREAS, Active in forging relationships with thought leaders from
the science and health care industries, Dr. T. Gregory Dewey formed the
President's Advisory Council, a group of executives from the corporate,
academic, and not-for-profit sectors who meet twice a year to offer
insights into how ACPHS can best align itself with the long term needs
of businesses and organizations; and

WHEREAS, Additionally, Dr. T. Gregory Dewey formed the Community
Council, a group of leaders from community based organizations, who
advise on initiatives for the student operated pharmacies; and

WHEREAS, Dr. T. Gregory Dewey has also played a key role in
expanding the college's Board of Trustees, which added nine new members
in his first two years as president; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Dr. T. Gregory Dewey has served as a local YMCA and SUNY
Global Health and Human Rights board member; and

WHEREAS, Dr. T. Gregory Dewey has been the proud recipient of
numerous awards and accolades including the 2017 HHC Innovator Award
from Hometown Health Centers and the 2017 Celebration of Progress Award
by AVillage, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, In his spare time, Dr. T. Gregory Dewey enjoys road biking
with his wife and participating in Road Bike tours; he is nature
oriented, and loves the Adirondacks and backpacking; in addition to
being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he enjoys writing essays and
newsletters; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Cynthia, three
children and two grandchildren, who have all shown him love and support
and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Dr. T. Gregory Dewey, that future generations may know and appreciate
his admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor T. Gregory Dewey, Ph.D. upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Third Age Achievement Award for Education by the Senior
Services of Albany; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to T. Gregory Dewey, Ph.D.
