HONORING Robert W. Lazar, CPA upon the occasion of
his designation as recipient of the Third Age
Achievement Award for Volunteerism by the Senior
Services of Albany
WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; and
WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Robert W. Lazar, CPA upon the occasion of his designation as recipient
of the Third Age Achievement Award for Volunteerism by the Senior
Services of Albany, to be celebrated at its 22nd Annual Awards Luncheon
on Friday, May 18, 2018, at Wolferts Roost Country Club, Albany, New
York; and
WHEREAS, Each year, this auspicious event recognizes the
contributions that area residents and professionals have made in their
communities during the Third Age of their lives; Robert W. Lazar will
receive this award for his valuable achievements and devoted service to
his community after the age of 60; and
WHEREAS, One of the most well respected business professionals in
the Capital Region, Robert W. Lazar, after a long career as the
President of the New York Business Development Corporation, became the
Director of Business Development at Teal Becker & Chiarmonte (TBC) in
2010; and
WHEREAS, In this capacity, Robert W. Lazar is involved with
strategic planning, client advisory services and business development;
additionally, he serves as a board member for Sterling Bank Corporation,
the parent company of Sterling National Bank; and
WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to his
community, Robert W. Lazar created the Lazar Family Scholarship, now in
its fifth year, to assist students in need; he also lends his CPA skills
to countless organizations in need of assistance; and
WHEREAS, Robert W. Lazar is an active volunteer with many local
organizations and has served on the Boards of the following
organizations: Living Resources; St. Peter's Hospital Foundation; NY
Business Development Corporation Charitable Foundation; Teresian House;
Union College Executive Committee; University at Albany School of
Business Advisory Board; NYBDC; Capital Region Sponsor-A-Scholar;
Capital Region Food Pantries; Albany Guardian Society; Sterling
Bancorp-Loan and Audit Committee; Capital Region Chamber of Commerce;
Center for Economic Growth; Sage Colleges; Mount St. Mary College;
Wolferts Roost Country Club; and the Academy of the Holy Names; and
WHEREAS, In recognition of his efforts, Robert W. Lazar has been the
proud recipient of numerous awards and accolades some of which include
the Lifetime Business Builder Award, MacDowell Leadership Award,
Saratoga Economic Development Corp Leadership Award, Capital District
Business Review Small Business Executive of the Year, Entrepreneur of
the Year Award and the UAlbany Community Service Award; and
WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife, Shirley, as well as
their three children and nine grandchildren, who have all shown him love
and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and
WHEREAS, It has always been the objective of this Legislative Body
to honor and support those individuals who have displayed their
commitment to the betterment of their communities, and it is the intent
of this Legislative Body to inscribe upon its records, this tribute to
Robert W. Lazar, that future generations may know and appreciate his
admirable character, his many benevolent deeds, and the respect and
esteem in which he is held by his peers; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Robert W. Lazar, CPA upon the occasion of his designation as
recipient of the Third Age Achievement Award for Volunteerism by the
Senior Services of Albany; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Robert W. Lazar, CPA.
