COMMEMORATING the 95th Anniversary of Buckley
Country Day School on May 12, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to recognize and
commend those institutions of true purpose and high achievement whose
exemplary programs and accomplishments clearly demonstrate an enduring
pursuit of excellence in the education of the youth of the Empire State;
and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commemorate the 95th Anniversary of Buckley Country Day School to be
celebrated at an event on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Garden City
Hotel in Garden City, New York; and

WHEREAS, Inspired by educator B. Lord Buckley, who was famously
quoted as saying "opening the eyes and awakening the mind...that is the
essence of education," Buckley Country Day School was founded in 1923,
by a group of like-minded parents as an independent, coeducational day
school providing a superior elementary education to an intellectually
capable and diverse student body; and

WHEREAS, Located in Roslyn, New York, Buckley Country Day School
consists of students in grades Pre-Kindergarten through eighth grade
from Nassau and Queens counties; and

WHEREAS, Under the luminous leadership of Headmaster Jean-Marc
Juhel, Buckley Country Day School strives to provide the foundation
which enables its students to achieve their full potential and excel as
educated, ethical, and self-confident individuals; the school's
graduates are well-prepared for entry into, and success in, secondary
schools and beyond; and

WHEREAS, Buckley Country Day School has continually demonstrated an
impressive dedication, an unparalleled devotion and an unremitting
enthusiasm for the quality of educational programs and opportunities
offered for the benefit of its faculty and students as well as for the
entire community; and

WHEREAS, Within the 21st Century, Buckley Country Day School stands
prepared to reach out, in earnest and enthusiastic quest of its mission,
to promote the maximum growth of every student, establishing standards
and building skills which will carry its students and the citizens of
its community into the future; and

WHEREAS, The Buckley Country Day School is proudly aware of its
distinguished past, eager to fulfill its present commitment to parents,
students and the community, and planning with vision and purpose for the
ebb and swell of growth and change it will encounter in the years to
come; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commemorate the 95th Anniversary of Buckley Country Day School on May
12, 2018; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Jean-Marc Juhel, Headmaster, Buckley Country Day School.
