COMMENDING Arnie and Libby Rubenstein upon the
occasion of their designation for special
recognition by the Boy Scouts of America Longhouse
Council on May 2, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the sense of Legislative Body to recognize those
esteemed individuals within our midst whose work and civic endeavors
have enhanced the quality of life in their communities and the great
State of New York; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to
commend Arnie and Libby Rubenstein upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by the Boy Scouts of America
Longhouse Council to be celebrated at the Boypower dinner on Wednesday,
May 2, 2018, at the Onondaga War Memorial Center in Syracuse, New York;
and

WHEREAS, The Longhouse Council is one of more than 270 local
councils; the purpose of the Boy Scouts of America, incorporated on
February 8, 1910, and chartered by Congress in 1916, is to provide an
educational program for boys and young adults to build character, to
train in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and to
develop personal fitness; and

WHEREAS, The Longhouse Council's annual Boypower dinner has
benefitted the Boy Scouts in Central and Northern New York including
Onondaga, Ontario, Cayuga, Interlakes, Tri-Lakes, Oneida and Northern
Lights; it has 4,000 registered scouts along with 1,700 adult leaders
and volunteers; and

WHEREAS, This years honorees, Arnie and Libby Rubenstein, will be
recognized and commended for their diverse community involvement
spanning over five decades; they have also been long-time supporters of
the Longhouse Council, Boy Scouts of America; and

WHEREAS, Arnie Rubenstein has been involved with the Boy Scouts of
America for most of his life, starting as a Cub Scout in Pack 40, and
Libby Rubenstein was a den mother when their son, Phil, was a Cub Scout;
and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, Arnie and Libby Rubenstein have served their
community by supporting, in various capacities: the Jewish community,
Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES), Better Business
Bureau, National Panel of Arbitrators, and Upstate Hospital Foundation
Board and Advocates Board at Upstate Medical University; and

WHEREAS, For the past 50 years, Arnie and Libby Rubenstein have
undoubtedly had an everlasting impact on the Longhouse Council, Boy
Scouts of America and Central New York; and

WHEREAS, Armed with a humanistic spirit, imbued with a sense of
compassion and having contributed to the growth and excellence of this

great Empire State, Arnie and Libby Rubenstein, in every capacity in
which they have served, have left a permanent mark on their community;
now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
commend Arnie and Libby Rubenstein upon the occasion of their
designation for special recognition by the Boy Scouts of America
Longhouse Council at the Boypower dinner; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Arnie and Libby Rubenstein.
