HONORING Dolores Mullen upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the Washington County
Senior of the Year Award on May 11, 2018

WHEREAS, Senior citizens bring a wealth of experience and knowledge
to the increasingly active roles they play in today's society; their
past contributions and future participation are a vital part of, and
valuable asset to, the fabric of community life and activity; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body to commend the
senior citizens of the Empire State who, as they reach the fullness of
years, continue to be active and vital participants in the life of their
community; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Dolores Mullen upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
Washington County Senior of the Year Award, to be celebrated on Friday,
May 11, 2018, at the Kingsbury Firehouse, Hudson Falls, New York; and

WHEREAS, Born in Arlington, Vermont, Dolores Mullen relocated to
Cambridge, New York, where she raised her two sons, Todd and Dean, as a
single mother; and

WHEREAS, While working full-time, Dolores Mullen remained fully
supportive of her sons involvement in baseball and football, raising
funds, selling raffle tickets and attending games; and

WHEREAS, As a member of the communities' bowling league, Dolores
Mullen served for 13 years as secretary and three years as treasurer;
and

WHEREAS, In 1976, Dolores Mullen began volunteering with the
Cambridge Softball Association where she served on the board, coached,
and engaged in many successful fundraisers; and

WHEREAS, With a steadfast and unwavering commitment to her
community, Dolores Mullen volunteers at St. Luke's Church in Cambridge,
helping in various capacities, including assisting with dinners and
breakfast, helping with communion at the alter and performing readings;
and

WHEREAS, A true small-town advocate, Dolores Mullen enjoys
socializing and promoting her church and all of its community outreach
efforts, as well as the Cambridge Valley Senior Citizen Center and the
local food pantry; she has also been the Cambridge Valley Senior
Citizen's President for the past three years, working tirelessly to put
together yearly basket raffles; and

WHEREAS, Furthermore, this extraordinary woman has been instrumental
in reviving interest for the OFA Senior Dining at the Senior Center, and
in establishing the Center as a site for games, puzzles, crafts, day
trips and general fun for those 55 and over; and


WHEREAS, Dolores Mullen is a true asset to her community and an
incredible example of energy and selflessness; and

WHEREAS, Rare indeed is the impressive dedication shown by an
individual for the benefit of others which Dolores Mullen has displayed
throughout her life; and

WHEREAS, Dolores Mullen has enriched the lives of her family,
friends and colleagues through her love and respect for others, and
through the wisdom which comes from many years of living life to the
fullest; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Dolores Mullen upon the occasion of her designation as recipient
of the Washington County Senior of the Year Award on May 11, 2018; and
be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Dolores Mullen.
