HONORING A. Michael Bucci, Jr. upon the occasion
of being selected as the 2018 Person of the Year by
the Columbia County Association in the City of New
York

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
A. Michael Bucci, Jr. upon the occasion of being selected as the 2018
Person of the Year by the Columbia County Association in the City of New
York; and

WHEREAS, The Columbia County Association in the City of New York was
founded in 1902 to bring together Columbia County and New York City
residents with common interests, including those from New York City who
had homes or businesses in Columbia County; and

WHEREAS, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. was born to Antonio M. Bucci, Sr. and
Judith A. Bucci of Greenport, New York; longtime residents of Hudson,
New York, the Bucci family owned and operated Bucci's Labella Napoli
Restaurant for over 50 years on 517 Warren Street; and

WHEREAS, A three sport letterman, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. graduated
with honors from Hudson High School in 1979; he earned his degree cum
laude from Villanova University in 1983; and

WHEREAS, As a college student, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. was a member of
the school's intercollegiate bowling team, serving as team Captain from
1981-1983; later in life, he proudly bowled a perfect 300 game and two
299 games; and

WHEREAS, Upon graduation, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. was immediately
hired by the international accounting firm, Ernst and Whinney; in
November of 1985, he became a Certified Public Accountant; and

WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. managed audit
and consulting services for more than 100 different audit and tax
clients, including large multi-state clients registered with the SEC; he
assumed the role of Senior Manager prior to accepting the position of
Audit Director and Controller with the New York State Bridge Authority
in Highland, New York; and

WHEREAS, In this capacity, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. was responsible for
the implementation, maintenance and adequacy of all financial and
management accounting and reporting systems, including the Authority's
system of internal accounting control review and coordination of the
E-ZPass system with the New York State Thruway Authority; he also served

on the interagency committee for the regional implementation of E-ZPass,
and oversaw an annual budget of more than $10 million; and

WHEREAS, Under the direction of A. Michael Bucci, Jr., the New York
State Bridge Authority received a financial risk rating of AA- and A1,
the highest rating in the industry, by Standard & Poors and Moody's
Investor Services; and

WHEREAS, Through A. Michael Bucci, Jr. and his wife's small tax and
bookkeeping business, the New York State Bridge Authority's Internal
Control Program received an A rating by the New York State Division of
Budget; and

WHEREAS, In 1998, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. joined the prestigious
Hudson Valley accounting firm of Pattison, Koskey, & Rath, P.C. as a
partner, and became a shareholder in 2000; three years later, he became
Treasurer and equity owner in the firm, and subsequently, the company
was renamed Pattison, Koskey, Howe and Bucci, (PKHB) CPAs, P.C.; and

WHEREAS, For the last 10 years, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. has served as
the firm's Managing Shareholder; under his luminous leadership, PKHB has
grown to include 10 partners, 18 CPAs, and an additional six offices in
the Hudson Valley; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the last decade, PKHB has been named the number
one tax preparation firm in the Albany, New York, area in the "Book of
Lists" presented by the Albany Business Review; and

WHEREAS, In 2008, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. and two partners established
Hudson Valley Resource Group, Inc., a full service payroll and human
resources company managing 275 local businesses, not-for-profit
companies and municipalities in 12 different states; and

WHEREAS, Dedicated to his profession, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. is a
member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
and the New York State Society of CPAs; and

WHEREAS, In 2009, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. was named to First Niagara
Bank's Eastern Regional Advisory Board where he served until its merger
with Key Corp in 2017; and

WHEREAS, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. is an active and devoted member of
his community; he has served on numerous local boards including the Twin
County Vikings, the Hudson Little League, the Hudson Boys and Girls
Club, Hudson BPOE Lodge No. 787, Hudson Rotary, the Greenport Park
Commission, Hudson Dollars for Scholars, Hudson Booster Club and the
Columbia County Association in the City of New York, holding the title
of Treasurer for all of these organizations; and

WHEREAS, Moreover, A. Michael Bucci, Jr. was one of the founders of
the Hudson Booster Club in 2005; through his steadfast efforts, the
organization raised significant funds to keep the sports and music
programs for the Hudson City School District when the school budget was
defeated in 2005; he also coached many youth baseball and basketball
teams, including all-star and tournament teams of various age groups;
and

WHEREAS, A faithful congregant of St. Mary's Church in Hudson, A.
Michael Bucci, Jr. is also a member of the Columbia County Sons and
Daughters of Italy No. 659, where he serves as trustee; in 2005, he was
the recipient of its Positive Image Award; and

WHEREAS, When he is not working or helping someone, A. Michael
Bucci, Jr. enjoys traveling with his wife and his family, and likes to
stay fit by working out, running and playing a variety of sports; and

WHEREAS, With him throughout have been his wife of 33 years, Dawn;
their three sons, Anthony (Kim) Bucci III, Dominic (Lizzy) Bucci, and
Kristofer (Jessica) Bucci; and one granddaughter, Elliana; as well as A.
Michael's brother, Bob (Chris) Bucci, all of whom have shown him love
and support and rejoice in his many achievements; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor A. Michael Bucci, Jr. upon the occasion of being selected as the
2018 Person of the Year by the Columbia County Association in the City
of New York; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to A. Michael Bucci, Jr.
