HONORING Diane Cameron upon the occasion of her
designation as recipient of the 2018 Paul Ehmann
Presidential Award by The Addictions Care Center of
Albany, Inc. on May 9, 2018

WHEREAS, It is the custom of this Legislative Body to recognize that
the quality and character of life in the communities across New York
State are reflective of the concerned and dedicated efforts of those
organizations and individuals who would devote themselves to the welfare
of the community and its citizenry; and

WHEREAS, Attendant to such concern, and in full accord with its
long-standing traditions, this Legislative Body is justly proud to honor
Diane Cameron upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of the
2018 Paul Ehmann Presidential Award by The Addictions Care Center of
Albany, Inc. to be celebrated at its 6th Annual Healing Hearts Breakfast
on Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Normanside Country Club in Delmar, New
York; and

WHEREAS, Since 1967, The Addictions Care Center of Albany, Inc.
(ACCA) has been strengthening the lives and improving the futures of
thousands of individuals in its community; through intensive, proactive
programs customized to individual needs, ACCA touches the lives of more
than 10,000 people throughout the Capital Region each year; and

WHEREAS, Through its core values of respect, compassion, diversity,
integrity and excellence, ACCA empowers individuals, families and
communities to advance beyond addiction and overcome barriers to healing
through an array of quality, compassionate care and prevention programs;
and

WHEREAS, Diane Cameron is receiving this prestigious award for her
exceptional generosity, compassion and civic vision, as well as her
continued support of the noble mission of the Addictions Care Center of
Albany; and

WHEREAS, Diane Cameron is a well-known and respected columnist,
author, speaker and coach; her columns and essays challenge readers to
think about events, culture, community, and most importantly,
themselves, from a new perspective; and

WHEREAS, A consummate professional, Diane Cameron gives numerous
presentations at various conferences, faith communities, and at
corporate and community events; she frequently provides readings and
talks based on her works, including her latest book entitled Never Leave
Your Dead-War, Trauma and Redemption; and

WHEREAS, In addition, Diane Cameron serves as a writing teacher in
schools, healthcare programs, businesses and churches; she hosts writing
workshops for people who want to tell their stories, write their poems
or use writing as a therapeutic tool; she also helps employees use
language well and communicate more effectively; and

WHEREAS, As an Arbinger Trained Coach, Diane Cameron offers life
coaching and creativity coaching, working with women and men who want to
transform their relationship to work or who want to find their right
work, or begin creative work to achieve their dreams; she delivers
meaningful workshops for schools, faith communities, businesses and
non-profit organizations and provides one-on-one mentoring or coaching
as well; and

WHEREAS, Diane Cameron is truly a compelling storyteller who
approaches all aspects of life with courage, compassion and humor; and

WHEREAS, It is the sense of this Legislative Body that those who
enhance the quality of life in their community and have shown a long and
sustained commitment to the maintenance of high standards in their
profession, certainly have earned the recognition and applause of all
the citizens of this great Empire State; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to
honor Diane Cameron upon the occasion of her designation as recipient of
the 2018 Paul Ehmann Presidential Award by The Addictions Care Center of
Albany, Inc.; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution, suitably engrossed, be
transmitted to Diane Cameron.
